Rocca Tiles is Ireland’s longest established tile emporium since 1955.
Edigidio Rocca, master marble mason and grandfather of current Rocca Tiles managing director Carl Rocca, arrived in Ireland in the 1920’s. Edigidio was especially commissioned to work on the intricate terrazzo, mosaics and marble in the rebuild of the Four Courts, in Dublin, after the Civil War.
The Galway showroom originally opened in Prospect Hill in 1975 and moved to Quay Street before finally settling on the Tuam Road. From humble beginnings, Rocca Tiles now boasts one of the largest showrooms in Ireland, with in excess of 30,000 sq. ft. of showroom and warehousing.

“The Tiler” by John Behan RHA - 1989
The idea for commissioning a unique piece of art to garnish the floor of Rocca Tiles showroom evolved from an evening spent by Carl Rocca with John Behan (accompanied by a few pints!!) in Freaney’s Bar, High Street, Galway in 1989. This piece that sits here was the working model for the large sculpture that adorns the main floor of the showroom.
